Why is Austin Still America's Next Boom Town?

Have you wondered why America is calling Austin the next “boom town?” What does this mean exactly?  Austin is in the news as the country’s new “it” town because it’s become one of the most booming towns to live and invest while showing no signs of slowing down.

Forbes is calling Austin America’s newest “boom town” and locals were hoping the rest of the country wouldn’t figure out how great it is to live here. What makes Austin the next boom town and what about it is booming? Known as the “city of the future,” Austin is getting recognized for the following reasons.

There are tons of jobs

The first reason to look out for Austin right now is that job growth is great and economic growth is following. The job growth is at just over 19% and population growth is just over 13% which means it’s doing well and there is still room to grow. Companies are offering competitive salaries to help with income growth and the great news is that the economy is not slowing down anytime soon.

Locals may notice though that with more and more businesses filling up the city, it’s going to cost more in mobility and affordability, with longer commutes and more expensive housing. It has to cost something to live in such a great city but it’s more than worth it.

The housing market is great right now

If you are looking for a home in Austin, this is the time to buy. Prices are expected to rise over the next few years but for right now, home values are being undervalued because the housing market isn’t done appreciating. You’ll have good returns in the future if you buy now.

The weather is hard to beat

If no other reason, people want to live in Austin for the non-stop sunshine. You’ll see 300 days of sunshine throughout the year which means Austinites are hitting the pool 82% of the year. The winter gloom around the country misses Austin as the skies stay blue and the temps remain in the 80s. Even California folks want to live here because the movie industry has found its way to Austin.

Great place to raise a family

If you’re looking for that perfect city to raise your family, Austin is a wonderful choice. There are a growing number of families and young children in the city making the housing market more active. You’ll find 13.7% of the population children in Austin.

Businesses and the Tech World

Last but not least, the area is a great spot for small businesses to thrive since it’s a pro-business environment and it’s the number one tech city right now. Independent theatres like Alamo Drafthouse and Violet Crown are doing great here keeping the culture local and utilizing the local educated talent pool. The area is focused on encouraging people to buy more cars and travel despite the energy crisis, and is fueling the city with fun with festivals like Fun Fun Fun Fest and Austin City Limits.

For these reasons, you’ll find that Austin is definitely the next Boom Town and the place where everyone will want to be.
