Taking a good bike ride with the family is one of San Antonio residents favorite hobbies. There are so many excellent bike paths that can give you a fun and free experience with loved ones or by yourself after a long day. Missions Hike and Bike Trail

If you like the idea of incorporating a bit of local history into your physical activity, biking at Missions Hike and Bike Trail will give you just that. You’ll begin the 16-mile loop at Mission Concepcion and then complete the ride at Mission Espada. Here, you’ll get to enjoy culture, history, and art relating to local landmarks.
It’s not actually a loop, but an 8-mile ride one way so you’ll need to plan on going to one end and then returning the same distance back. You’ll want to prepare yourself for the ride with plenty of water, but you can refill at any of the missions or enjoy something to eat at Missions Concepcion. It’s easy to get hot during the ride though so a good water bottle will be important. Overall, this is a really smooth ride and one you’ll love!

If you like the idea of a leisurely ride around the popular River Walk incorporated into the biking experience, be sure to plan on a ride through Hemisfair Park. This South Alamo gem allows you to take in the sights of the popular San Antonio River Walk, as well as the natural beauty of Hemisfair Park and local attractions.
Check out the Texas Rangers Museum, the Majestic Theatre, or the Buckhorn Saloon. You’ll love that you can more of the River Walk than others because of the quicker access by bike to these sites and more, including the Bexar County Courthouse and the Torch of Friendship.
3700 North St. Mary’s Street, San Antonio
For a more adventurous ride that will offer a great deal of variety, check out the Brackenridge Park bike trail over on North St. Mary’s. this location is great for getting out in the great outdoors while also getting to see what people are doing at local attractions, residential neighborhoods, and even businesses. You’ll be tempted to stop at one of the restaurants you pass along the way unless you remembered to bring a picnic to refuel after all of that exercise!
San Antonio River Walk Hike and Bike Path
If you want to be right in the middle of the action for the River Walk, check out the San Antonio River Walk Hike and Bike Path. This is found on North St. Mary’s Street as well and will offer a 9.1-mile ride. Plan on a good 30 minutes to tackle this one and enjoy the beautiful greenery of the park the whole ride.
This will be fun with a group of friends that you can stop for a picnic or pull over to check out a museum or store. This is a great way to sightsee in San Antonio without too many others fighting over the same beautiful views.
