Austin's Best Neighborhoods for a $300K Budget

Are you working with a $300k budget for your next home in Austin? You surely won’t be limited with $300,000, but you still may be unsure of where to look for your price range. You’ll have great options all around the city, whether you’re looking for something more North, more South, or something close to downtown. Take a look at the top choices that you should check out in your price range.

Knollwood on the Colorado

For an option that will allow you to live close to Downtown Austin, check out Knollwood on the Colorado. It’s in East Austin right on the Colorado River, making it perfect for the outdoorsy family. The kids can attend Oretga Elementary school, Martin Middle, and Eastside Memorial High School during the year and you’ll find it easy to travel for work being just 12 minutes from the Austin Airport.

The average price for a home here is $345k and you’ll enjoy modern homes that are only 10 years old. Spend the weekends kayaking, fishing, hiking, and swimming with the family while entertaining in your open floor plan at home.

Olympic Heights

Check out Olympic Heights if you want to be located on the southwest part of town. It’s going to be around 20 minutes from both Downtown and the airport, but you’ll being in an affordable neighborhood next to highly rated schools.

Students can attend Bowie High School while your family will enjoy a smaller neighborhood with newer homes. The average price of homes is just under $250k and many have been updated with hardwood floors and Quartz countertops.

Avery Ranch

Hands down, Avery Ranch is one of the best master planned communities you are going to find in Austin. You’ll find a mix of affordable homes to semi-luxury properties here with the average price at $378k. Enjoy access to the five amenity centers that have four community pools, and the popular 18-hole award-winning public golf course.

Aside from all of the recreation at the pool, golf course, and sports fields, you’ll spend the weekends shopping or dining in your neighborhood while students can attend school right on site. This is a winner or a neighborhood for those looking in Northwest Austin.


If you like to get into a neighborhood while it’s still new, you’ll love Addison in Southeast Austin. This is a master planned community that is growing quickly and hasn’t completed build out, which is expected at 550 homes.

You’ll be able to live close to Downtown at 18 minutes away and it’s less than 10 minutes to the airport. Lot sizes are small which means your Saturdays won’t be spent mowing a large lawn, but instead you can hang at the community pool, hitting the bike trails, or walking the neighborhood enjoying the fun, modern colored homes.

Be sure to also ask your realtor about seeing properties in Easton Park, Bauerle Ranch, and Cherry Creek for properties in your price range. You’ll love living in Austin, especially knowing that you can find wonderful neighborhoods on any budget!
